On Wednesday, July 13, the Inverbervie & District RNLI will hold its 60th Anniversary Celebration in the Lifeboat House, Johnshaven Harbour.
District President, Jilly Arbuthnott, will welcome an invited company of 60 at 6 p.m. and Veteran Volunteers, Margaret Ritchie (one of the oldest still active in Scotland) and Jean Cook, will cut the celebration cake and propose a toast respectively.
Carol Kinghorn, Lord Lieutenant of Kincardineshire, will unveil the RNLI Fundraising Award in recognition of the District having raised £250,000 since its formation in 1949 and after Don Marr, Vice-Chairman of the Benholm and Johnshaven Heritage Society, has spoken about the Johnshaven Lifeboat men, she will then unveil a memorial plaque.
Johnshaven Brownies Erin Beedie and Laura Porter will read “The Lifeboatmen” poem by William Douglas-Home and Karen Smith, RNLI Scottish Council Member will present Long Service Awards to Inverbervie Guild Members: Morag Arthur, Aartjie Gray and Christine Robertson and Benholm and Johnshaven Members Freda Dundas, Geraldine McGuiness and Elizabeth Watson.
In her programme message to Guild Members and Supporters Mrs Arbuthnott expresses her gratitude to all who have enabled the Guild to celebrate in style and add more memories to the history of the Inverbervie and District Guild.
Master of Ceremonies, Geoff Lawrence, will round the evening off at 7.15 p.m.
