The Todhead Lighthouse, eight miles south of Stonehaven and near Catterline, is up for sale with the option for the buyer to use it for residential or leisure use.
The historic lighthouse was lit in 1897 and decommissioned more than a hundred years later in 2007 as it is no longer needed for safe navigation because of advances in technology.
The Catterline lighthouse is one of three historic lighthouses up for sale in Scotland by the Northern Lighthouse Board, with one for sale in Thurso and another up for grabs in Lossiemouth.
Offers for the Catterline lighthouse are starting at over £145,000 and the buyer will get the lighthouse tower with adjoining single storey building and detached bothy.
The advert states that internal refurbishment would be required if someone was to buy the lighthouse for residential use.
A 2005 review addressed the future requirements of lighthouses and as a result it was agreed to discontinue the light at Todhead, which only served as a ‘waypoint’ rather than to mark a specific hazard. Its use was discontinued in 2007.
