Dancers from Showcase the street from Stonehaven and Inverbervie are part of a selection of dancers taking part in world championships.
This weekend MissChief and Destruction will head to Glasgow to take part in the UDO World Street Dance Championships at the SECC.
The registered charity provide weekly dance classes for ages 3-18 all over the East Coast of Scotland trying to minimize deprivation and rural isolation.
Natasha Stewart Dance Officer for Showcase the street said: “We are different to any other commercial dance school as we try to provide different experiences for all kids that attend, we work closely with Saltire Award Scotland, providing volunteering opportunities which are recognized by an award and noted on their C.V, and we also offer the chance for those who are disengaged from school, a chance to receive a youth achievement award through one of our programs, dance, sport, fashion and drama.”
While down at the world championships the teams will be involved in filming withthe BBC hoping to feature in the kids tv programme ‘Get Inspired.”
Natasha added: “This weekend (Friday, August 28to Sunday August 30) a selection of dancers have been chosen to represent two dance companies from Showcase The Street. They are MissChief – Under 18 crew, and Destruction – Under 14 crew. The dance Companies will be competing against other teams across the WORLD at the UDO World Street Dance Championships 2015, and the Nations Best Dance Act – Dance Show Live 2015. Both competitions will be running from the SECC Arena Glasgow.
“This is a huge achievement from the local youths as they had to qualify for this competition against hundreds of other teams in the UK and they are also the first young people from their area to ever attend this event.”
