ONCE you've seen it you'll certainly know all about the "Caravela"!
It's white, blue and yellow, has four wheels and can seat 17 people. What is it? - why, the "Cammach's" minibus, sporting it's new colour scheme.
Hotel owners Doug Butler and Alex Connon decided that the sedate white of the bus was not eye-catching enough and saw a potential marketing device for the new "Caravela" lounge/restaurant/function suite.
In a very short time the bus was whisked in and out of Stonehaven Motors and is now being seen, day and night, "doing its rounds" to and from the hotel.
Doug and Alex reckon it certainly has caught the public eye, although one or two remarks have been made about it looking like having come through a "paintstorm"!
FRIDAY 13 NOVEMBER 1959
CRAIG Daniel Kennedy, Stonehaven, who received the degree of B.S.c at the Aberdeen University graduation ceremony last Wednesday, was in the news for an entirely different reason six months ago.
Coming home from Aberdeen in order to get ready to play for Aberdeen University in a football match at Cove in the evening, he inadvertently entered the 3.30pm postal train, which does not stop at Stonehaven, instead of the 3.40pm, which does.
He realised his error as the train sped through Stonehaven and decided to take the risk of jumping. Passengers who saw him pulled the communication cord, and the train stopped just outside Drumlithie.
Craig's cries for help were heard by Mrs R Turner who, with her son Ian, made him comfortable until an ambulance arrived. Instead of the football match, therefore, Craig arrived in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with a compound fracture of the right leg.
During his enforced stay in hospital he studied hard for his final year examination, and there was no trace of a limp when he walked up to the platform in the Mitchell Hall to be capped.

IT may be interesting to record that there is residing in Stonehaven a gentleman who has perhaps a larger acquaintance with the north and south polar regions that even Shackleton. In his younger days the gentleman was a great traveller, and has been as far north as 86 degrees and also 60 south. It says something for our little town that after having travelled all over the world the gentleman should have made Stonehaven his permanent home.

THERE has just been handed over to the custody of the Town Clerk by Mr Cunningham, the late clerk of the Old Burgh's successor, the Seal of the Burgh in use in former days. It is very much like the present Seal, with deers supporting a shield, with a deer's head surmounting the shield. On the top is the word "Marischal," and at the foot "Stonhyue," which is the only occasion we have seen the "u" used.
