DUNNOTTAR WELCOMES NEW MINISTER
DUNNOTTAR Parish Church welcomed its new minister at her service of induction last Thursday.
Reverend Rosslyn Duncan was presented with a cassock by Mrs Eliza Watt, the eldest member of the church, who will be 103 on December 9, and a Home Communion Set and flowers by six-year-old Katie Louise Davidson, who was representing the younger Sunday School members.
Rev Duncan told the Leader Stonehaven had done her proud with the warmth of its welcome since she took the keys to her manse at the beginning of the month.
"I felt right at home here," she said. "Stonehaven is very much a community place. It is beautiful, and there is so much here in the town and in the nearby countryside.
"People have been exceptionally kind with the warmth of their welcome."
Though called to Dunnottar, Mrs Duncan said she sees herself as very much a parish minister for the wider community and hopes to become involved in the schools, care homes and hospital.
"I am intending to go into the town and meet people. I would like them to introduce themselves to me as I want to be a town minister not just a congregation minister."
Dunnottar is the first parish for the former Dollar resident, who came to the ministry after studying as a mature student at New College, Edinburgh. For the last two years she has been an assistant at Dunblane Cathedral.
Mrs Duncan is married with three children aged 18, 20 and 22-years-old. Her husband Sandy works in the United States and will shortly join his wife in Stonehaven for the first time.
For her first sermon on Sunday Mrs Duncan chose the theme of looking forward in faith and trusting in God.
