Stonehaven Heritage Society are to hold their first meeting of 2014 on Wednesday, January 22, at 7.30pm in St. Bridget’s Hall, Dunnottar Avenue.
Speaker will be David Northcroft, from Muchalls, on the topic “Thanks for the Memories Recollections of 20th Century Daily Life in the North East of Scotland”.
Following a notable career in education, David has dedicated years to interviewing folk who grew up in the small towns ofthe North-east in the 20th century, in order to tell their heartwarming and gritty accounts of their lives, from the cottar hoose to the “big hoose”.
This will be a fascinating story of how things used to be in this area.
David has published two volumes of “Grampian Lives” which give more of these eyewitness accounts of life in the past.
New members and visitors will be most welcome.
