A German couple who met in Inverbervie six years ago, returned to Kincardine and Mearns to tie the knot last week.

Winfried Kramer and Bianca Bessette met at the popular festival, Yellows on the Broom, organised by their good friend Anne Mayer.

The couple were married last Wednesday at Stonehaven Registrars accompanied by Anne and Winfried’s best friend of 35 years, Wolfgang Schmitt.

Wolfgang had flown in to surprise the couple, by turning up at Stonehaven Golf Club while they were there for a meal and pretending to play golf until his friend noticed him.

Winfried said: “I spotted him out the window, and when I realised it was him I burst into tears.

‘‘I was so happy he had come to be part of our special day.”

Anne told the Mearns Leader the couple met back in 2008, explaining that it was Bianca that had wooed Winfried.

She said: “Winfried was cleaning the toilets at the festival and Bianca was so impressed with him that she sent him flowers.”

Anne helped organise the wedding in Stonehaven for the couple.

She added: “It was so lovely, we were all in tears.”

The married couple live and work in different towns in Germany and travel to see each other on weekends.

The new groom asked us specifically to mention that he and his new wife love Scotland.
