Horizon promotes town at station

Stonehaven Horizon Project had reason to celebrate last week as their latest project, to display posters depicting the attractions of the town at the railway station were finally unveiled.

Horizon, together with Deeside Timberframes, adopted the station several years ago, and this latest project, organised in conjunction with Scotrail/FirstGroup, is intended to promote the many attractions of the town.

Horizon member Allan Sutherland said: “We were very generously donated photographs from three of our prominent photographers, Rob Powell, Andy Hall and Martin Sim, of many famous places such as Dunnottar Castle, the Open Air Pool and the Harbour and events such as the Fireballs, the Folk Festival and the R.W.Thomson Rally.”

He added: “Scotrail endorsed this project and paid for the photographs to be reproduced in poster size, providing frames for the six to be mounted on the two platforms.

“They also mounted frames in the underpass between the platforms, which enabled us to show more of the events which are held during the year, such as the Highland Games, the Real Ale Festival, the Feein’ Market, the Cartie Race, the Harbour Hi-Jinks and Fowlsheugh RSPB reserve.

“We trust these will be enjoyed by the travelling public, along with the floral display on the platforms with Spring blooms shortly appearing to brighten up the station. We hope too that it will promote our wonderful wee town as one of the best places to visit in North-East Scotland”.
