INQUIRY INTO CHARLOTTE’S DEATH NOW CONCLUDED

GRAMPIAN Police have now completed their investigation into the death of Laurencekirk resident Charlotte Tennant who was killed in October last year on the A90.

The popular 20-year-old was found at the side of the road about a mile south of Fordoun after deciding to walk the four miles home following a night out in the village.

Following her death on Saturday, October 20, Charlotte’s family launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward and Grampian Police opened an investigation into the circumstances.

Police have now confirmed that a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Dowall said: “As is the case with all fatal road traffic collisions, a report on the circumstances has now been submitted to the fiscal and we are no longer seeking anyone in connection with the incident.

DEVELOPMENTS

‘‘This was an extensive investigation and we are grateful to members of the public who came forward with information.

‘‘The family have been kept fully up to date with developments and I hope that this can at least offer them some form of closure.”

A spokesperson for Charlotte’s family said: “This was a tragic set of circumstances and we would like to thank all those friends, work colleagues and members of the community who have been in contact with us over the last few months to offer their support.

‘‘Charlotte was a big part of our lives and will always remain in our hearts and thoughts.”

Charlotte, who worked as an assistant carer at Burnside Care Home in the town, was killed just weeks before her 21st birthday.

Hundreds of friends paid tribute to the former Mearns Academy pupil following her death and she was described as a “special angel”.
