Barry Black has been selected to contest West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine for Scottish Labour in 2015.
At a meeting last Thursday night, members voted in favour of Mr Black to be their candidate in the General Election.
He is a community campaigner in Aberdeen and previously led the Aberdeen City Youth Council as well as being an active member of the Labour party.
Mr Black said: “I’m delighted to have been selected by local members to fight West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine in 2015.
“Voters in West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine want a strong voice to stand up for hard-working families, and I’m confident that, as the Labour candidate, I am the person to do that.”
Aberdeenshire Labour Group Leader, Councillor Alison Evison, said: “We are delighted to have Barry Black as our candidate for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine in the Westminster elections 2015.
“Barry has a wealth of campaigning experience and an excellent understanding of the priorities of the area. These are exciting times for Scottish Labour in Aberdeenshire as we continue to build on the successes of recent years.”
