Make the most of the coast

THE local community are being urged to make the most of cash from the Coastal Regeneration Fund which is to be used to “make the most of the coast.”

The budget for the fund was passed by the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee last week and Councillors urged people in the area to make sure the money gets used.

Some of the £68,000 is being used to support projects such as the Mill of Benholm.

Other ways to spend the money were raised at a Community Engagement meeting which took place in Inverbervie earlier this year.

The coastal path and conservation were just two of the suggestions for where money needs to be spent which came from the meeting.

At the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee meeting last week Councillors highlighted other projects which they felt the money could help. These included a coastal cycle path and a cafe at Johnshaven.

It was also noted at the meeting that the possibility of money from the European Fisheries Fund could result in more money available for projects in the costal towns.
