Home-Start Kincardine won £3000 when three pupils from Mearns Academy represented them at the finals of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative event in Laurencekirk on Monday 28 January 2013.

Pupils Alyson Crowley, Jordan Jones and Kerry Byrne had Home Start Kincardine as their charity at the event which saw teams do presentations on their chosen chairites at the event.

The five teams from Mearns Academy delivered presentations in front of a packed Dickson Hall. Lady Wood was there to present the winning team with £3000 for their chosen charity. Heather Manning accepted the cheque on behalf of Home-Start Kincardine, saying that it was a great boost to their funds, and would go towards building volunteer numbers to support local families with young children in the community.
