STUDENT TRIO ORGANISE CLAN CHARITY FASHION SPECTACLE

A TRIO of students from Stonehaven and Bervie have joined forces to help organise a charity fashion show.

Robert Gordon University students Mark Beadie (23), Lauren Evans (23) and Jon Milne (22) all hail from the Mearns and are helping to organise the show to raise funds for local cancer support charity CLAN.

The organisation has recently opened up a new centre in Stonehaven, where people can get support, information and therapies to help them through the illness.

The Hollywood-themed fashion show is set to take place on May 28 and will be conducted in the impressive glass atrium of Aberdeen Business School. Around 400 guests are expected to show their support for the charity, with the students keen to make the night a resounding success.

Third year Media and Communication student Mark Beadie, who comes from Stonehaven's South Lodge Drive said: "I am very proud to be taking part in the fashion show to help raise money for such a great charity like CLAN. A lot of hard work has gone into making the show a success and ensuring we can raise as much money for them as possible.

"My role within the fashion show is working within the corporate hospitality team. We are responsible for creating a VIP room to entertain the guests that have bought sponsorship packages. These packages sell for considerably more than normal tickets and will hopefully assist us in reaching our overall target for CLAN – an extremely worthy cause."

He added: "I have never been involved with CLAN before now but since starting this project I have seen what an amazing job they do, and I know the money we raise will go along way to helping CLAN reach their own goals."

Mark also took part in a sponsored walk along the beach front to raise further funds to put towards the cause, and said he has enjoyed the experience of working alongside Lauren and Jon very much.

He said: "Without the great teamwork that has been put in so far I don't think the fashion show would be a success. The show would not happen if all the teams did not pull their own weight and I think each team has really stepped up to the mark this year.

"All the different teams have come together over the last few weeks to help raise money through the street collecting, the West Highland Way walk and the '9 to 9' 12-hour dancing marathon in the Bon Accord centre. It has been a great experience and the project has brought everyone closer together, I just wish we could do it again next year!"

Tickets from the show cost 15 and can be purchased from Lauren Hillis at l.hillis@rgu.ac.uk.
