Mackie Mock Trial success

Mackie Academy just missed out on a place in the finals of the Mock Trail competition but finished third.

Taking place at the Old Bailey and organised by the Citizenship Foundation, Mackie battled it out with 18 other regional winners.

Schools fought it out across three rounds to see who would be in the final with Mackie representing Scotland winning all three of their rounds.

The Stonehaven school just missed out on a coveted spot in the final by five points.

The competition is in its 25th year and Mackie Academy has competed in seven UK finals.

Mock Trail educates young people about their legal rights and responsibilities and the legal process through presenting opposing sides in a court case.

Mackie’s opposition were King Edward VI Handsworth School, Greenhead College and Plymouth High School for Girls.

The team received positive feedback from the judges about their performances and were encouraged by the friends and family who attended on the day.
