A man has been arrested in connection with a fire in Fraserburgh nearly 18 years ago that claimed a man’s life.

Gordon Graham died after a fire broke out at his home at 74 High Street on May 3 1998 with then Grampian Police ruling the fire as an accident.

But the case was re-opened eleven years later in 2009.

Police Scotland has now confirmed that a 42-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal fire.

He is due to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The family of Mr Graham have requested that their privacy is respected at this time.
