A man threatening to jump from the disused viaduct over the River North Esk at St Cyrus was stopped by police officers this morning.

The alarm was raised at 06.30 a.m. today (March 6) and negotiators from Police Scotland were able to secure the man in his 20s almost two hours later and took him to a place of safety.

A crew from Scottish Ambulance Special Operations Response Team (SORT) supported coastguard officers from Montrose and Carnoustie by providing downstream safety.
