It was a night to remember in Gourdon on Thursday when one of the world’s leading chefs came to the village as part of his national competition to find the country’s best couple run restaurant.
Marco surprised the team at Hornblowers, run by husband and wife, Alex and Ruth Grahame, by arriving out of the blue after hearing great reports about the harbour side fish and chip restaurant & takeaway.
Ruth said: “We couldn’t believe our eyes when Marco walked in and ordered a Jumbo Haddock Supper which he then ate in the restaurant.”
After enjoying his fish supper in the harbour view restaurant the 3 star Michelin chef pronounced it to be the best supper he’d had in Britain since his childhood chipper in Leeds.
Alex said: “We were delighted that Marco spent an evening at Hornblowers enjoying the finest of Scotland’s produce, sourced locally, cooked simply and priced affordably.”
Marco Pierre White’s Kitchen Wars will air on Channel 5 this summer.
