The Marketeers are getting ready for this years Ride the North Cycling event by going coast to coast in aid of charity.
The group have continued to raise funds for the Maxillofacial Unit at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Last year they helped raise over £20,000 with their cycling of the Ride the North sportive.
They have once again entered the event and as recognition of their great efforts to support the Maxillofacial Unit Consultant Mr Terry Lowe and his daughter have joined the Marketeers and will be cycling the two day event.
Mr Lowe said that the team along with the regulars at the Market Bar had enabled him to purchase life changing equipment.
He said: “Mark was not only a patient in my care but along with Lorna was inspirational in their efforts to raise money for the unit “
In preparation for the Ride the North cycle the Marketeers are cycling from Oban to Stonehaven next weekend, this effort takes in nearly two hundred miles of roads.
Andy McAllan, Ronnie Kelman, Alistair Chapman & Craig Allan will set of from Oban on Saturday and plan to dip their rear wheels in Stonehaven Harbour on the Sunday afternoon.
Andy said “We wanted to do something that was a challenge to maintain the incredible support and encouragement we have received from the generous people of Stonehaven. We are funding the trip ourselves to ensure that every penny we raise goes to the unit. As usual I am overwhelmed by the support we have received. Hays Hydraulics are providing us with a support van and transport for our team and local plumber John Mackenzie is giving up his weekend to drive the support van and provide us with any help required.
“We have been sponsored for Ride the North by The Market Bar, Hays Hydraulics, ESS, Lions Den & EMS this year and this enables us to focus on raising as much as we can.
“The Ride the North event finishes in Stonehaven this year so its going to be extra special for us this year. Cycling in Stonehaven is growing at an incredible rate and with the formation of the Stonehaven Cycling Club its undoubtedly going to get bigger.”
