Welcome back to Millo Moments. It’s been a busy first term back with lots going on in and out of the school.
P7 pupils went on their residential trip to Dalguise for a week, with the weather staying fine for them all to have lots of fun! SCARF was in school talking to P6 about how to save energy, with the pupils playing some fun games relating to energy words.
On Friday P4 classes held their assembly for their parents and the whole school based on the story of the Good Samaritan. The ALEC caravan was at school at the beginning of term with all the classes visiting it to learn about an aspect of Health and Wellbeing. The Eco Committee are busy preparing to apply for their 4th Green Flag and the new committee members have been appointed – congratulations to everyone who was successful in their interviews!
The Allotment Club is now up and running. Pupils have been repairing nets, digging out weeds, harvesting mange tout and getting the ground ready for winter.
The PTA committee for this school year formed at the end of August and held a further meeting on September 4 to plan fun raising events for the year ahead. They started with the family bingo night which was a great success with lots of prizes being won! A good return was also made on the annual sale of SPREE books. A big thank you to everyone who supported these fundraisers. The children have been busy with art work to create their own Christmas cards which will go on sale next term. They are also looking forward to the Fancy Dress Disco on Thursday November 1 which is always a popular school event. PTA members have been very busy distributing letters for Les Black photo sessions and Fun mats. Fun mats provide the opportunity to purchase quality products featuring each child’s own art work and the photo sessions take place on Saturday November 3 and Sunday ovember 4. Both make fantastic Christmas gifts!! The wrapping of gifts is also covered with Northbrook leaflets soon to be handed out for the sale of wrapping paper, gift tags etc. Still with Christmas organising in mind, the PTA met on October 2 to plan the Christmas Craft Fair which will be held on Sunday November 25 and promises a festive spirit with various stalls selling great ideas for Christmas presents and of course a visit to Santa’s grotto. The next adults quiz night has been arranged for Friday November 16 at Mackie Academy. This is always a great fun, well supported night where teams of up to six compete against each other in a wide variety of rounds. If you’ve not been before, give it a go and create some new competition.
The parent council held their AGM on Wednesday September 26 and elected the new parent representatives for the coming school year. The next parent council meeting will be on Wednesday November 7 at 6:30pm to which all parents and carers are invited to attend.
