The B979 “Netherley Road”, which was partially closed to allow a culvert to be replaced, will now remain closed until Saturday December 22.
The closure has been extended due to unforeseen difficulties with utilities in the area, which has caused delays in replacing the culvert.
Head of Aberdeenshire Council’s Roads and Landscape Services Philip McKay said: “We had originally hoped to complete these works by 15 December, however this will now not be possible. An extension to the road closure is required for up to a week, although we will do all we can to reduce this if possible.
“We apologise for the inconvenience the road closure is having on people who use the B979.”
The road is closed between the C5K which leads to Lairhillock School and the U62K which leads to Invercrynoch, An alternative route is signposted via the A90T at Stonehaven to the B9077 Leggart Terrace, Aberdeen - B9077 South Deeside Road to the B979 Netherley Road and Vice Versa.
The diversion route chosen has to be appropriate for the traffic volume, and types of vehicles, that currently use the B979, which is why the signed route makes use of the A90. Minor routes are therefore not signed, although local traffic can make some use of these routes as appropriate.
