A team of Rotarians acted as question-master and judges last Tuesday afternoon at Newtonhill Primary School when local school teams participated in the annual local Rotary Club Primary School quiz.
The winners this year were the members of Newtonhill Primary School “A” team and the runners up were the Newtonhill Primary School “B” team.
The winning team shown, comprising Lucy Rennie, Ewan Silver, Jamie Innes and Peter Collins were presented with the Portlethen & District Rotary Shield, which will be held by the school until this time next year. Seven teams from Newtonhill School, Portlethen Primary, Portlethen Fishermoss School and Banchory Devenick took part in the competition and this year the event was hosted by Newtonhill School. The winning Newtonhill team will now move forward to the next round to be held in Aberdeen on May 11.
Unusually this year one of the young team members actually corrected the Rotarians by pointing out that it was Scotsman, “John”, not “James” Logie Baird as shown on the answer sheet who invented television.
Well done to all the enthusiastic youngsters who participated and supported the teams in this excellent competition.
