North Esk bursts banks - Flooding in Marykirk

Marykirk has been flooded this morning with roads closed in the area.

The warning came after heavy rain associated with Storm Frank falling overnight which has resulted in river levels rising in the North Esk.

Police Scotland tweeted that the A937 was closed.

The tweet said: “The A937 at Marykirk is CLOSED due to flooding. Please avoid the area and find alternative roues.”

The flood warning from SEPA stated: “Heavy and persistent rain associated with Storm Frank was fallen overnight from Tuesday and is forecast to continue up to mid day Wednesday. This has resulted in rising river levels in the N. Esk during Wednesday morning. The N.Esk is expected to be very high during this period. Cottages at Marymill and the A937 are at risk from flooding.
