As Scotland braces itself for a cold snap, punters have already started to dream of a white Christmas according to Ladbrokes.

The last two official white Christmases in many parts of Britain were recorded in 2004 and then the ‘big freeze’ of 2009/10.

That bone-chilling winter was one of the coldest on record as Scotland was gripped by icy winds and snow from Siberia, which saw treacherous festive travelling conditions all over the country.

There has certainly been a trend towards harsher winters in the last decade and this year’s sweltering summer has got many believing that Scotland will pay the price with another long and bitter winter.

Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports are currently the favourites to see snow fall on December 25, with bookies offering odds of 2/1 for all three locations.
