Open night for Air Cadets

Cadets and staff of 1297 (Stonehaven)Sqn. Air Training Corps are to host an open evening at their headquarters at Beachgate Lane on Thursday 1st September. beginning at 7.30pm.

A warm welcome awaits the parents of any boy or girl aged 13 or older who would like to find out more about the many varied activities available to members of the squadron.

The cadets all take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme with activities associated with the scheme going on throughout the year.

During the past year members of the squadron have undertaken expeditions, fitness sessions as well as community involvement.

The squadron also competes against other squadrons in the North East Wing in many activities including model making, shooting, sports and swimming.

The cadets also have access to the flight simulator which is excellent preparation prior to going gliding or powered flying. Cadets also learn about how aircraft fly as well as many aspects of the world of aviation.

Cadets in the squadron enjoy a busy and varied time developing and learning new skills as members of one of the top squadrons in the North East.
