An astonishing £25,000 has so far been raised for Portlethen man Stephen Kleszyk after his leg was amputated from the knee down in August.
The 28-year-old father of one was diagnosed with cancer in August which was unable to be treated by chemotherapy and since then friends and family have been organising events to ensure Stephen gets the best prosthetic leg available, at the cost of around £35,000.
A sponsored walk and auction raised £13,700, a fun day held in Johnshaven raised £2,700, an Ann Summers event at the Leathan Arms raised £650 and the Anchor Bar in Johnshaven raised £180 from “The Residents” playing on Saturday night. The girls from Edge Hair and Beauty also donated £380 from spray tans carried out over three days. Many companies have also donated kindly to the cause and on Saturday 27 October there will be a Man v Food night at the Anchor Bar in Johnshaven, as well as a sponsored bungee jump.
