AN STV cameraman was in town last week to capture a local group’s appeal to viewers for the 2011 People’s Millions.

The Stonehaven Town Hall Trust is urging people across the Mearns and beyond to pick up the phone and vote to help them win the £60,000 needed to install a new sound system in the building.

The People’s Millions is a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund in partnership with ITV and the group’s film will be aired on the STV News North between 6pm and 6.30pm on Monday, June 27.

The Trust is going head-to-head with the Kyleakin Connections Advance project, based near Kyle of Lochalsh, and whichever project polls the most votes will be awarded the cash.

Phone lines open at 9am on June 27 until midnight but the number to call is not released until the day itself. The Trust is hoping as many people as possible will support its bid.

People can sign up on the STHT’s website to be notified of the number by either email or text on the day.
