Police appeal after break ins at Hillside

Police are appealing to residents of Portlethen to ensure their vehicles are secure after a spate of attempted break ins in the town.

Last week police received calls in the early hours of Thursday morning after a property was broken into on Hillside Drive.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 2am on Thursday, 23 July, 2015, police were called to the Hillside Drive area of Portlethen. One property was broken into and a small number of personal items taken, which have been recovered. An item was also stolen from a car in the area which has also been recovered. Police would appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time to contact them on 101.

“Police are reminding people to make sure that doors and windows are secured and if a door chain is fitted, ensure doors are locked as well.”

One resident of Hillside in Portlethen who did not want to be named told us: “There is definitely a sense that we are being targetted, and everyone feels a bit paranoid in the area. We feel like sitting ducks, I for one have taken as many precautions as possible.”
