Pupils to celebrate at event

Pupils from the Mearns area will be attending a National Event in Perth next week to celebrate the success of the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative in Scotland.

The day-long event will welcome over 700 representatives from the 10,000 secondary school pupils the programme engages with every year in Scotland and will celebrate the success of the 2012/13 academic year for YPI, with £240,000 being handed over to local Scottish charities. This year 80 schools have taken part from 12 local authorities in Scotland.

The winning teams from Mackie, Mearns and Portlethen Academies will be attending the event to join with the 77 other schools in Scotland who have taken place this year, and to hand over £9000 to local Mearns charities.
