Fundraising for the 2014 Marykirk Raft Race has now begun and is kicking off with a quiz night and raffle next weekend.
The quiz will take place next Saturday, October 12, at 8pm in the Marykirk Hotel.
The committee work very hard to help raise money for Carronhill School, CHAS and other local groups and charities.
They have held previous quiz nights and fundraisers over the years.
Media co-ordinator for the committee, Kerri Duncan, spoke of the importance of some of the fundraising nights.
She added: “Without nights like our quiz night and other fun events throughout the year we would be unable to make a ‘Big Splash’ at the raft race and raise the magnificent amounts that we do.
“This is also a great way to bring our local community together.
“So if you think you have the knowledge to win the top team prize of £20, just turn up on the night.
‘‘There is an entry fee of £2 per person.
“We hope to see everyone there to show their support and enjoy a fantastic night out.”
The Marykirk Raft Race raises funds for local charities, the two main receivers being Carronhill School, Stonehaven, and CHAS.
All funds raised will be used to organise the Raft Race, which is to be held on May 18, 2014.
The 2013 raft race took place in May with 14 rafts competing.
The winning team was ‘Nuns on the Run’ who crossed the finishing line with an excellent time of 23.07.
