The Marykirk Raft Race is over for another year but the organisers have thanked everyone who took part in the successful day.

Those not taking part in the race were kept entertained by throughout the day with plenty of events.

This year there was a climbing wall, rodeo bull, bouncy castles, children’s races, stalls and food vans.

A presentation night will be held later in the year where participants will get to collect their trophies from the raft race event and be part of the fun on the evening.

All monies raised on the day will go to Carronhill School, CHAS, Mearns Allsorts and other local groups and charities.

Kerri Duncan from the Marykirk Raft Race said: “The Marykirk Raft Race Committee would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped make the day so successful; a special thank you to MSG Events who provided the bar on the day and donated 50% back to the charity.

“Well done to everyone who took part in the Raft Race, there was a lot of wet and cold people at the end who all remained in great spirits. We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to build rafts, some of which now are in many parts, and for collecting sponsors from family and friends. We greatly appreciate your support.

“The day itself was as fun-filled as always and people were seen having great fun in the park afterwards.

“The bands did a fantastic job up on the stage and had everyone singing and dancing along”
