The Group still run led walks every two weeks, alternating Saturdays and Sundays.
Last weekend seven folks walked in Strathdon, taking in a 12 mile circular route via Glen Ernan and the top of the Socach in the pristine Cairngorm National Park.
The next walk on Saturday 25th June will be in the Coreen Hills. It will be 9 miles with total ascent of 1300ft. The Leader will be Sandra Horrocks. Please call her on 01569 762288 if you need further details. Visitors and potential new members are very welcome.
The report in the Leader in 1986 said it was a memorable day for the branch.
Two Aberdeen branch members joined 23 walkers from the Stonehaven group and the ages ranged from the very young to the experienced.
Amid marvellous sunshine and an occasional welcome breeze, the group walked up one side of the Sheeoch Burn, had their lunch by the stream, then started the homeward walk on the other side of the burn, at a higher level, affording views of forrests, famland and distant hills.
This proved to be a most enjoyable social outing for the first ramble and all who participated returned to their cars most enthusiastic and looking forward to future walks in congenial company.
