THE winners of the Hannah Dyson and Community awards were recognised last week at an awards ceremony.
The recipients of this year’s awards, along with their families and friends, were invited to the ceremony at the Invercarron Resource Centre last Wednesday night where Provost of Aberdeenshire, Jill Webster, presented the two awards.
Winner of the annual Hannah Dyson award was Katrina Carr, for her dedication and contribution to the sport of Taekwondo. The annual Hannah Dyson award commemorates popular Netherley teenager, Hannah Dyson, who died in 2005 after a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
The community award, which is now in its second year, was presented to Stonehaven man David Lawman who has volunteered in the town for over 30 years while working full-time, bringing up three children and being a husband to his wife, Lisa.
Run by the Stonehaven and District Community Council, Stonehaven Business Association and the local churches, the award - which was introduced last year - aims to highlight the valuable work carried out by adults in the community based on their excellence, merit or outstanding achievement.
