Refuse collections on normal days over festive season

As Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on a Sunday this year, refuse and recycling collections in Aberdeenshire will be made on their normal days.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day and on New Year’s Day.

They will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 9am to 4pm (closing one hour earlier than usual in some cases). Otherwise all will be open as normal.

The council say: “If we miss your refuse collection due to severe weather, you can put up to two bin bags alongside your bin on the next collection day. This is the only time we can accept extra waste.

“If we miss your recycling collection, please take it to a HWRC or recycling point. If this is not convenient, you can put out extra bags with your recycling at the next collection.

“If you do this, please put only one type of material in each bag and keep all glass in the recycling box for safety reasons.

“You can recycle your Christmas tree at any Household Waste Recycling Centre free of charge.”
