President Alf Lawrie welcomed members to the Laurencekirk Rotary Annual Burns Supper in the Crown Hotel on Monday.

Local piper Andrew Young piped in the haggis which was then addressed by Peter Myles with helpful English translations in his delivery .

New member David Lamb proposed “ The Immortal Memory” and informed his audience that he first came to Burns through song in his primary days at school.

The Bard had the unique ability to write about simple things but with a universal meaning.

David Johnston and Donna Allan spoke with riotous humour on the “Lasses” and covered such diverse subjects a sex surveys and agony columns with Donna perhaps just winning the dual with a fine poem in Burns style on the subject of flatulence.

Jim Brown finished the evening with a his take on the male fellowship of the pub and a rousing toast to “Tam o Shanter and Soutar Johnie. “
