The Rotary Club of Stonehaven, in its efforts to help raise the sum required for this Dialysis Unit Appeal, is going to Beaujolais for the Nouveau Wine on Monday (November 17).

The Dialysis Unit is urgently needed in Stonehaven, to help and assist patients locally, who currently have to travel to Aberdeen up to three times a week for treatment.

In previous years the have raised significant funds using the Beaujolais Nouveau, for different appeals, and this year, their priority, along with many others, is to try to get the money required in order to get the Kidney Dialysis Unit in Stonehaven moving this year.

A group of Rotarians will leave Stonehaven on Monday November 17, drive through the night, get an early ferry at Dover, and drive down through France to the Beaujolais area, and spend the Tuesday night in the town of Villefranche-sur Soane.

Next day we make contact with the vineyard, do the purchase and legal bits and pieces, and then later on that day, pick up the cases of wine and travel back up to Calais, to make the journey back to Stonehaven.

The fund raising is done through three elements. A guess the mileage competition, sponsorship of the cars and sale of the wine they bring back.

Some of the drivers and the cars will be on show at The Plainstones on Saturday November 15 selling guess the mileage tickets before they depart.

On Thursday November 20, the rotary have a sold out French Gala themed evening at the Station Hotel, with David Martin playing French music with his piano accordion, and an Auction of the cases of wine conducted by the renowned Auctioneer, Ian Taylor of Taylor’s Auctions in Montrose.

All drivers pay all their own expenses, so that all money donated goes to the appeal.
