There has been much excitement following the news confirming that a certain Royal Couple are to be coming to Stonehaven this week, and will be making a visit to Giulianotti’s Sweetshop on Evan Street on Saturday.
William and Kate will be in the town as part of Celebrations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
However, before Royal Fever takes over Stonehaven, it has to be admitted that the popular young couple, will unfortunately not be here in person - They will be seen at E. Giulianotti’s this weekend, but in the form of a fabulous 5ft portrait created by an artist and made entirely out of Jelly Belly Beans.
The huge portrait which is said to be “stunning”, will contain over 12,000 American jelly beans. Visitors to the shop will be able to enjoy viewing the picture there over the next three weeks.
Last year the shop was given on loan a 4ft Jelly Bean portrait of Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe, and this created a great deal of interest with their customers who were asked to “Guess the Number of Jelly Beans” in the portrait.
With the arrival of “Will and Kate” this week, Giulianotti’s have decided to run an art competition for Primary School Pupils to mark the event.
As part of the celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year, they are inviting children to create their own picture on the theme of “Our Queen and the Royal Family.”
All entries must be received at Giulianotti’s by October 18 at the latest. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories. Full details of the competition will be available at Giulianotti’s, but it is essential that all entries have the following attached - Name, Age, address, contact number, and Picture Title.
The competition is free to enter, and children can use any materials they wish for their pictures.
E. Giulianotti hopes to be able to exhibit as many entries as possible at the shop, subject to numbers received and space available.
