Santa run kicks off Kevin’s Day

FOLLOWING a year’s break, preparations are being made for the return of Kevin’s Day in June 2012.

Set up by Stonehaven mother Carol Humphries, whose son Kevin lost his battle with leukaemia in 2001 at the age of 15, the charity event is a fun day for the whole community.

This year Kevin’s day events are planned throughout the year, which you can get involved in.

On Sunday December 11 at 1pm a festive-themed Santa fun run is taking place for Kevin’s Day. There will be a 10k and a family run taking place in Baird Park.

You can sign up for the run online at www.born2run.co.uk and if you sign up for the 10k before December 5, for £15 you will get a Santa suit to wear on the day.

Registration without a Santa suit is £12. Registration for the family run costs £5 and you will be given a selection box.

You do not have to register beforehand, however if you are planning on turning up to run on the day organiser Carol asks that you email her and let her know so she can be sure of numbers.

Also on the day Wattie McDonald will be in Baird Park with his sled dog racing team doing runs around the park. So even if you are not taking part in a race head along and enjoy the event.

On December 17 Kevin’s Day along with the Town Hall Trust are holding a ‘bring a party to a party’ which will include a three course meal, band and a disco.

Tickets can be purchased from Ma Simpsons or the Royal Hotel.
