The Stonehaven Business Association (SBA) window competition is over for another year raising £520 for the Christmas parade.
The SBA has been running a window guessing competition for many years and this has always proved popular with local and visiting children during the holidays.
The quiz took place over six weeks over the summer and you may have seen kids of all ages peering into shop windows throughout the town.
Local businesses placed an item in their show window - something they do not normally sell - and the task for the participants is to visit all the shops taking part to try and identify those items. There was 40 shops that too part this year and taking quiz competitors to the harbour, the beach front and around the Market Square.
This week Fern Gauld (6) from Stonehaven was announced as the winner in the 8’s and under category and Max Innes (10) from Drumlithie announced as the over 8’s winner. They each received a family day ticket to the open air pool and a small cash prize.
The SBA is grateful to Liz and Graham Johnston who organised this year’s competition and to My Beautiful Caravan in the Market Square who sold the entry forms and took in the completely entries.
Despite the mixed weather this summer nearly 600 people paid £1 each to take part and the proceeds go towards the costs of the Christmas parade which will take place on November 28 this year. The theme will be Christmas songs and carols.
Congratulations to all those who took part and well done if you made it into the prize draws. SBA would like to specially thank Liz and My Beautiful Caravan for all their hard work. If you want to help SBA contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
