The C27K Bervie Braes in Stonehaven will close to vehicles next month for the winter, reopening in the spring.
The road will be closed from Monday, November 16 and will reopen in April 2016 - an arrangement reviewed and approved by councillors last year.
Site notices will be erected in due course indicating the temporary restriction to traffic, which will be diverted via A957 and A92.
Philip McKay, Head of Roads and Landscape Services, said: “Due the relatively dry summer and autumn, in line with previous agreements, we have been able to extend the summer opening of the Bervie Braes.
“However, to maintain the integrity of the slope and protect users, the normal winter closure will be put in place shortly.
“Pedestrian and cycling facilities were improved last year, and they will be available throughout the period, unless extreme weather requires further action. In such circumstances appropriate signage will be put in place.
“During the winter closure I would ask that drivers use the normal diversion route.”
