Secure Mars Bar as Stonehaven’s

A Stonehaven fish and chip shop has applied for secured status for their famous calorie-filled invention.

The Carron Fish Bar, the original inventors of the deep fried Mars Bar, have applied for the treat to be sheltered under the European Union’s Protected Food Name Scheme, like Arbroath Smokies, Parma ham, Cornish pasties and Champagne.

The deep fried Mars Bar has become well known around the world as a food many people associate with Scotland, alongside the likes of Irn Bru and Haggis.

Bosses at the chippy want the delicacy to be known as “Stonehaven Deep-Fried Mars Bar after its hometown.

The chippy hope by formally naming the product it will always be related to where it came from.
