Aberdeenshire Council’s Shared Lives scheme hosted a successful activity weekend for over 50 people who wished to find out more about the initiative.
The weekend, which was held at Glenmore Lodge, Aviemore, aimed to celebrate, promote and share information about the scheme which provides flexible, personal, matched and innovative short breaks, day support and long term placements to people with a disability.
The Aviemore weekend enabled families to try new experiences in a relaxed environment, with those who attended taking part in activities such as canoeing, climbing and archery, organised and delivered by Active Spirit staff.
For those who preferred to relax, beauty therapy sessions and a small pool and sauna were also available for use.
Sue Mahony, Aberdeenshire Council’s Learning development and community care team manager, said: “This event would not have been possible without the help of our skilled volunteers who freely gave up their time to make this event the true success it was.”
