Portlethen Moss Conservation Group, in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council, were awarded a ‘Silver’ award for environmental best practice at the Scottish Green Apple Awards held in Edinburgh Castle.
The group were delighted when they were advised that they were through to the list of finalists and to receive a silver award was just amazing. The other winners at the event were businesses from all over Scotland and the Portlethen group’s entry was the only community group of volunteers who made it through to the final, made it extra special for them.
The Moss Conservation Group say that awards like this not only encourage them to carry on the good work they do but help them when applying for funding as they are seen as being committed to what they do.
The award was presented to the group because of the work they have done over the years and continue to do in the conservation of Portlethen Moss and the creation of the new Portlethen Community Woodland.
Anyone interested is very welcome to go along to the next tree planting event at the Community Woodland on Downies Road, Portlethen on Saturday November 10, commencing at 10am.
