Stonehaven SPAR has donated money to the charity Kincardine and Deeside Befriending.
SPAR store manager Dianne Finnie nominated Kincardine & Deeside Befriending as a beneficiary of SPAR’s bag re-use scheme.
As a result, £1500 will go towards the running costs for the charity.
Dianne said that the care and attention provided by volunteers and staff of Kincardine and Deeside Befriending was ‘‘overwhelming’’ and that the charity brought great comfort and support to older people and their families.
Brigitte Matthews, senior co-ordinator of Kincardine and Deeside Befriending, who collected the cheque, said: “We rely on donations to run this much-needed service and are very grateful to SPAR, and Dianne in particular.”
Kincardine and Deeside Befriending aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness in older people throughout the area by matching them on a one-to-one basis with a volunteer befriender.
