A Stars in the Sky fundraising coffee morning has raised over £1600 for heart defibrillators for use by the community in Laurencekirk.

The latest fundraiser held on Saturday, May 10, was well attended by local people.

Once they have been purchased, the defibrillators will be placed in the local community with easy access for the public to use in an emergency.

Locations have not yet been decided and open training meetings in the use of the machines have yet to be arranged.

The Stars in the Sky account was set up following the tragedy of the untimely death of a local mother and her unborn baby of sudden heart failure at a local event and no medical support was available.

A spokesperson for the committee said: “Public support for the Stars in the Sky fundraising team has been tremendous,.

‘‘The committee would like to thank all who have donated and supported this worthwhile cause for the benefit of the community.”
