A Stonehaven care home for adults is to be recognised at a prestigious evening awards ceremony celebrating the independent care home sector in Scotland.
The Bungalow has been selected as a finalist in the Specialist Adult Care Award category at the Scottish Care Awards 2013. Staff will find out the result at the awards ceremony, to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Friday November 15.
The Scottish Care National Care Home Conference, which is now in its fourteenth year, has incorporated an awards ceremony for the last nine years. These awards have been hailed a huge success in recognising individuals, teams and companies, with over 300 entries flooding in this year from employers, employees, care home residents and their families nominating staff, peers and colleagues.
The care awards, are the largest of their kind for the independent care home sector in Scotland, have Delivered Health Solutions and Tena as joint main sponsors this year.
The Bungalow staff are stunned that they have been recognised for the awards.
A staff spokesperson said: “We are very surprised but thrilled and honoured to be nominated as one of the finalists in the Scottish Care awards.”
Calum Murray, Director of Adult Services for Crossreach, said: “The Bungalow is purpose built for adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities with complex needs. The staff team have service users as their central focus at all times, including during challenging times such as our major building developments. During this time, every team member went above and beyond their call of duty to ensure potential stress for service users caused by disruption to their home was kept to a minimum, ensuring seamless continued care and support which makes this service a home for each person living there.”
