Stonehaven & District Gardening Club are launching their annual Summer Gardens Competition which is supported by the Mearns Leader and Kirktown Garden Centre.
The competition which is open to all, provides an opportunity for everyone to get involved in doing their little bit to brighten up their neighbourhood and the overall appearance of Stonehaven and the surrounding area.
The Club’s Chairman John Shinnie, is keen to encourage everyone to take part in this local community event, explaining that the competition has been tailored to suit both experienced and inexperienced gardeners.
Entrants can either enter their own garden/display or indeed nominate a neighbour or friend’s garden/display.
There are four categories covering large gardens, small gardens and container/hanging basket displays. Now is the time to start planning and planting your garden/display for the competition which will be judged in early August. There are trophies and prizes to be won.
There is also still time for the younger gardener to enter the children’s “Grow The Tallest Sunflower” competition. Look out for the entry forms for both these events in the Mearns Leader over the summer months. Full details are also available on the Club’s website www.stonehavengardenclub.co.uk
