Aberdeen-based McGregor Consultants are in the final of the 2013 Grampian Awards for Business Excellence.
The engineering recruitment consultancy’s directors, Jo McGregor and Angie Mcgregor - who first became friends while pupils at Stonehaven’s Mackie Academy - will join two other finalists in the Employer of the Year category at the gala dinner, which will be held at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel tonight (Thursday).
Jo and Angie were also finalists in the prestigious Ernst and Young Scotland Entrepreneur of the Year 2013, which was held at Gleneagles Hotel last week.
McGregor Consulting, which was set up in 2006 by Jo and Angie, specialises in matching the best qualified people to high level drilling, subsea, completions and HSE positions.
They now have a team of 12 staff, providing personal support tailored to meet the needs of each consultant, handpicked to match each individual job. In just 10 months of initial trading, the company turned over £1.7million; their expected turnover for the coming financial year is in excess of £20million.
Jo and Angie, who are not related, still live in Stonehaven.
They remained friends before they ended up working together for 10 years at another Aberdeen oil and gas consultancy.
Jo said: “Our staff is the most valuable commodity we have. When we started the company six years ago, it was just Angie and I, but we now have this incredible team of people who have helped us build the company into what it is today.
“We are absolutely delighted to have made it this far in the Awards which we hope shows how committed we are to everyone who works with us.”
The Employer of the Year award will be presented to the business that can best demonstrate corporate success achieved through well adopted company values that stimulate, develop and support employees.
The Grampian Awards for Business Excellence is open to small and medium-sized businesses in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
