Last Monday, Stonehaven Sea Cadets TS Carron rewarded their top cadets for their efforts throughout 2013.
The awards were in four age categories: Juniors (10-12), 12-14, 14-16, and 16-18. There were additional awards for the highest scoring runner-up and for the cadet who made the most sporting endeavour over the competitive season, as well as an award for the Best Division.
The guest of honour making the presentations was the Deputy Area Officer for Northern area, LtCdr (SCC) Alan Stewart RNR who travelled up from MoD Calendonia in Rosyth especially for the occasion.
Once the cadet awards were handed out there was one more special presentation to be made. Grampian District was recently announced as joint winner of the Navy League Trophy as best District throughout the UK in terms of competitions and achievements, sharing the award this year with Tyne South which happens to be another Northern Area district.
The award was presented to Leading Cadet Markus Coolahan as nominated representative of the District Officer LtCdr (SCC) Brian Mair RNR.
The cadet awards were presented to the following: Junior Section (10-12) - Leading Junior Cadet Florence Craig; 12-14 age group - Ordinary Cadet Calum Miller; 14-16 age group - Ordinary Cadet Angus Bruce; 16-18 age group - Leading Cadet Mark Coolahan; Martin Thomson Memorial Trophy (sporting achievement) - Able Cadet Heather Bruce; Best Division (Lawrence Mitchell Trophy) - Starboard.
