SATURDAY 9 June

Stonehaven Youth Girls u-13 v Elgin City (away) League 1-3

Stoney Girls made the long trip to high flying Elgin and snatched an early lead when Townsend, Laing and Grundy combined to leave Porter to score at the back post. Grundy spun and shot and Laing narrowly missed as Stoney sought a second. Elgin came back into it with Traynor and a couple of Christie interceptions saving Stoney. Elgin equalised immediately after half time and added a soft second before a strong Kelly drive went close. A slaloming run and drive just over from Townsend signalled the end of Stoney’s resistance as Elgin added a late third and Imray blocked another.

SUNDAY 10 June

Stonehaven Development Squad v Westdyke (hazelhead park) 7-2

Stoney’s relative experience told as McVey spun onto a Doyle pass to open the scoring. The strength of Tench added a second and Denniston rattled in a third before Westdyke pulled one back. Battling Porter ,composed Spence , the silky Robertson and speedy Wright were linking well and Tench and McVeys power was too much for Westdyke as they added a fourth and fifth . Robertson slotted a sixth and despite a secodn Westdyke goal Stoney still dominated. The experience of Johnston and Townsend closed the came out and Johnston rattled in the final goal in her last appearance for the younger side.
