Stonehaven Harbour Festival is over for another year with local community groups providing another fantastic day out.

The popular August festival kicked off on Sunday (August 30) with Lesley Simpson and her Vikings landing in Stonehaven harbour.

Thousands from across Kincardine, Mearns and further afield descended on Stonehaven with plenty to see and do.

Stonehaven beach was full of sand castle designs from children, in a day which also included a live demonstration from the RNLI of their inshore lifeboat along with the coastguard.

The Harbour Festival Facebook page posted thanks to everyone for the day:

It read: “The Rotary club of Stonehaven, Stonehaven and District Lions club and Stonehaven Round table, the organisers of this years Viking Harbour Festival, would like to thank everyone for their support which made Sunday such a great day. Not only were we blessed with great weather but we had a huge crowd as well.

“A big thank you to Lesley Simpson and her Vikings all the way from South Mainland Shetland, The Newtonhill Pipe Band, “Moonshiners” group and Mearns FM for providing music and commentary during the day. Thank you to all of the stall holders for coming along and helping make this event a success.”
